Design The MM-8300 features a traditional clamshell design with a very large 176 x 220 color display and support for 65,000 colors -- plenty of room and color depth for video content. A full-color 72 x 72 supplementary display on the outside of the cover displays incoming call information, battery life, signal strength, graphics, photos and more. The camera unit is placed just below this display, as is an LED flash. Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's backlit control pad. The phone also features a standard jack to accept universal hands-free headsets, or a stereo handsfree headset. Detachable color faceplates are available. Calling Features The MM-8300's built-in address book can store up to 300 contacts for quick and easy management of phone numbers and email addresses. The phone also comes with 11 built-in polyphonic ringtones plus a vibrating alert. You can match pictures with callers to identify them, making it easy to know who's calling without opening the phone. Voice activated dialing makes calling your friends, family and associates as easy as saying their names, and a built-in speakerphone makes it easy to use the phone handsfree. Lastly, The MM-8300's GPS location technology pinpoints your exact location when you dial 911 (where available). Messaging, Internet, and Tools Because the MM-8300 supports PCS Vision services, messaging features are robust. You can easily send and receive email, exchange text messages, or join a chat room. Support is built in for instant messaging clients from AOL, MSN and Yahoo!, so you're never out of touch when you can't make a call. Using the phone's video and still camera, you can take advantage of Sprint PCS Vision video and picture mail services. Plus, with Sprint TV you'll enjoy full-color video clips or live TV of the latest news, sports, and entertainment from CNN, Fox, The Weather Channel, and more. If that's no PCS Vision mobile Web services also let you check out sports scores, get your seven-day forecast, check your flight status, and stay up to date with the latest news. Experience full-color graphic versions of popular Web sites or purchase and download premium applications, games, ringers, and screensavers to your phone. T9 text entry, a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built-into the unit-- a plus for mobile web and messaging users. A number of handy software tools are bundled with the MM-8300, including an alarm clock that can be set one time or daily, a calendar with a to-do list and scheduler, a calculator, and a world clock. You'll also get a voice recorder that can record up to 72 seconds of voice data or call memos. A PC synchronization application allows you to synchronize your contacts, addresses and other data with your computer. Imaging and Entertainment Get ready to take great pictures with the MM-8300's VGA camera, which can shoot pictures at a maximum resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. The camera also features an LED flash and a digital zoom, plus a self-timer and brightness and white balance controls. As mentioned, the camera can also capture video that can be shared with your friends and associates via video messaging. The video unit records in MPEG4 format and can capture clips up to 15 seconds in length. The MM-8300 supports 3D Java-based games, as well as other 2D-based games, which are available from Sprint's PCS Vision service. You can also customize the phone's wallpapers and screensavers to give the phone a look that suits your style.
