RIM announced the Blackberry Pearl 8130 handset for CDMA networks in North America, including Sprint and Verizon. The Pearl 8130 is an updated version of the 8100 that was developed for GSM networks. Enhancements to the Blackberry Pearl 8130 include a built-in GPS receiver for satellite navigation and support for high-speed EV-DO networks. The Blackberry Pearl 8130 will be available in either silver and amethyst colors, weighs 95.8g (3.4oz), and measures 106.7mm x 50mm x 14mm (4.2" x 1.97" x .55"). New features on the 8130 include an upgraded 2.0 megapixel camera with flash, video capture capability, and a 3.5mm headset jack. The 8130's Bluetooth 2.0 system also supports A2DP support for stereo headphones while its microSD card slot supports cards with capacities up to 4GB. Availability is planned for November 2007.
