The SanDisk V-Mate is a small item of approximately 2cm high and 13cm wide which easily fits into a small space alongside the television. The shiny black front of the SanDisk V-Mate will do well in modern furnishing. The front of the V-mate contains the memory card compartment that can take various memory cards. The SanDisk V-Mate is standard delivered with cables to connect the device to a DVD player, video recorder or satellite and television. When using the small remote control you can even operate the SanDisk V-Mate whilst staying in your most comfortable chair. Before using the SanDisk V-Mate, a memory card should be placed inside. The set-up menu lets you select the recording format. You can choose from cell phone, Sony PSP, TV, PC and manual. When manual is set the quality, format, resolution and the number of frames per second have to be set. Besides all this the menu lets you play a movie straight from the flash memory card. There are two ways of recording: firstly with a maximum resolution of 640x480 pixels and secondly with 30 fps. Manual recording is possible as well as pre-set recording. If manual recording is selected, one has to select a station on the device that is connected to the SanDisk V-Mate at that moment. When recording is pre-set, the infrared transmitter comes in handy. Setting the date, station, starting time and finishing time everything will take place automatically. The SanDisk V-mate will transmit a signal through infrared that automatically turns on the device that needs recording from and it also automatically selects the station. The SanDisk website offers a firmware update for the V-Mate. The update has to be copied onto a memory card. As soon as the memory card is inserted in the V-Mate, it will automatically request to run the file in order to update the firmware. Updating the SanDisk V-Mate has a few advantages. The remote control's reactions are faster, the video quality improves, times can be set for manual recording and more telephone brands and types are added.
