U.S. wireless carrier Alltel announced a new handset today, the Samsung Muse (SCH-u706). This 3G CDMA handset is designed for consumers that want an affordable but reliable cellphone. The Muse is a clamshell shaped phone that offers sleek and modern looks along with convenient dedicated external music keys. The slim Muse sports a 2 megapixel camera with support for video messaging and also supports text, picture, and instant messaging. The handset has a built-in MP3 music player, backed up by a microSD memory card slot, and stereo Bluetooth support for those wanting to be wire free when listening to tunes. Alltel has included its GPS application, Axcess Mobile Guide, for those looking for help when driving around town. The Muse measures 99mm x 48mm x 13mm (3.9" x 1.9" x .5") and weighs in at 96g (3.4oz). It supports the 800/1900MHz frequency bands on Alltel's 3G EVDO network. The Muse is being offered for US$89.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a two year service agreement.
